Krasimir didn’t drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes or steal—in stark contrast to the normal lifestyle of a gypsy. As a young man, he obeyed his parents and loved to study and work. But the mysteries of life began to plague his mind with daunting questions.
When a Bible League-trained worker began prayer meetings and a Bible study in his village, Krasimir never missed a meeting. “Little by little I started to amass knowledge about God, getting to know Him better,” he says. “I understood that God is very merciful and loving. I loved Him, I trusted Him, I believed in Him and I started following Him.”
The Bible began to answer the tough questions Krasimir had. “Now I know that God has created everything. He rules over everything and nothing happens without His order. I love the Lord and I know He loves me, too. He gives me everything I need and He listens to my prayers.
“When I read the Bible, I feel like I'm communicating to God—as if God's Word is written for me. I will never part from Him. I want to become a preacher.
“I’m thankful to Bible League for providing the Bibles and trained workers to open our eyes and teach us,” Krasimir says. “Without Bible League, I wouldn’t become a Christian.”
For many Church Planters in Central and Eastern Europe, it is an uphill battle in reaching their community with the Gospel. The Evangelical churches here face strong opposition from Orthodox priests and new challenges from the insurgence of Islam throughout the region. We invite you to prayerfully uphold persecuted Christians in this region with God's Word.
