Sudha had been infected by chicken pox. This little girl, living in a remote village in India, experienced all the common results of this type of infection—the persistent itch and the unsightly marks—but she was also left with devastating damage—she had lost the eyesight in one eye.
Unable to attend school, her parents took her to many doctors—only to lose money and observe no recovery of her eyesight.
Sudha and her family were hopeless and broken hearted when they met the Bible League-trained Christian. But together as Sudha and her family studied the Bible with this new Christian friend, they heard the Good News about Jesus. Soon the entire family repented of their sins and came to know the love of Jesus through their relationship with Him.
Over time, little by little, the wound in Sudha’s eye was also cured. “I believe God will heal my eyesight completely,” says Sudha.
“Throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America alone, 40% of the population is aged 15 or under,” says the Executive Vice President of Bible League Ministries. “Some studies suggest that 85% of those who will receive Christ will do so before age 25. This means there are billions of boys and girls around the world who are in the most spiritually influential stage of life—they are the future.
“Bible League has a unique opportunity, working with local churches worldwide, to equip believers with Scriptures and training. Many children live in areas where they will not have access to God’s Word in any other way, either because Bibles are too expensive or just not available. We are so grateful for our partners who, through their gifts, help us make these Bibles and materials available,” he says.
Though official persecution in the form of anti-coversion laws is on the decline, community persecution administered by local Hindu extremists remains high.
Many Project Philip workers and Church Planters have been threatened and have been beaten by religious radicals. They need God's Word to sustain them amidst the suffering.
