| T he churches in Ethiopia were well known to be persecuted and believers lost their Bibles during the long 17 years of communist regime. Since mid 2006 there was religious aggression appearing in some targeted places in Ethiopia led by Muslim extremists. Churches were destroyed, houses were burnt and believers were forced to convert to Islam.
Yet, thousands of new believers are coming to Christ and being baptised every year. Working with over 6,000 local churches that comprise 80% young people under the age of 25, Bible League's Project Philip Bible study program is making a great impact in Ethiopia.
In 2006, Bible League in Ethiopia was able to place 162,341 Scriptures, graduate 198,554 Ethiopians from a Project Philip Bible Study and baptise 4,214 new believers. But the need is still increasing. To provide Bibles for persecuted Christians, please click here.
