Day 14 - MIDDLE EAST

Rania was the only one in her family who went to the Sunday school class taught by her neighbour. Her family weren’t Christians but Rania was drawn to the Bible studies and she would share what she learned with her three sisters, two brothers, her mother and father.

She couldn’t quite grasp the Gospel, as she’d say to herself, “God, I need to see you. Why don’t I see Jesus?”

One night after she had prayed this prayer, she awoke from a sound sleep to see a bright light in the room. She heard a voice saying, “Do you want to see me? Come to me and see me.” She felt the presence of God and realised that He was calling her to a closer relationship with Him.

Rania’s response to this experience was life-changing. She began vigorously studying God’s Word. The more she studied, the more questions she had about Christ. But all the questions were being answered as she read the Bible.

“The Word of God has transformed my life,” says Rania. People began to notice the difference. Soon, each member of her family came to believe in Jesus, one by one.

Middle East_Bible studyThree years went by and she heard God specifically direct her to teach the Bible to children and to begin a ministry to women all over her country. She obeyed His call and now she travels by bus, train, or on foot to far distances—sometimes taking three days to reach her destination—in hot, dusty, and dangerous conditions. As God’s humble servant, Rania bravely carries out this work with the strength she gets from God's Word.

Rania’s vision for this remote Middle Eastern country is to see women unite, crossing tribal lines and other divisions. She wants to share the Gospel and help transform her country for Christ.

But sharing the Gospel in this Muslim region may result in her severe torture, prolonged imprisonment or death. Yet, Rania has God's Word to sustain her.

Many more Christians like Rania in the Middle East are waiting for God's Word amidst their suffering. You can help provide Scriptures for believers like Rania. To provide Bibles for persecuted Christians, click here. square

"For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ."
(2 Corinthians 4:6, NIV)

Middle East

In the Middle East, the place of some of the world's most repressive Islamic governments, anyone caught sharing the Gospel with a Muslim can expect cruel torture, prolonged imprisonment or death.

Yet, many faithful Christians who suffer for placing Bibles say, "I will do this, again and again." They are determined to bring God's light to those who are still in the darkness. Will you support them?
