WALK4BIBLES tally continues to grow!
The 2008 WALK4BIBLES Bible tally continues to grow with a total of 12,942 Bibles so far provided for persecuted Christians. The tally is expected to grow as donations from sponsors keep pouring in.
There are still plenty of opportunities to place more Bibles with persecuted Christians. WALK4BIBLES is still to be held in Brisbane, on 13 September and Toowoomba on 6 September, 2008. If you can’t walk in those events you can sponsor a walker.
“Thank you to everyone who has so far participated in the event by walking, sponsoring or volunteering,” says the national director of Bible League Australia Grahame Smith. “It has made an eternal difference in the lives of persecuted Christians around the world.”
WALK4BIBLES is also impacting the lives of those who take part in the event. Reverend Jim Webster, who organised the local WALK4BIBLES in Queenstown, Tasmania, wrote a poem—something he hadn’t done for 18 months—from the inspiration he received through WALK4BIBLES.
A walk in the footsteps of our Lord
We had a walk with the Lord today.
With brothers and sisters we walked His way.
We paused at times to worship and pray,
to give praise and thanks for He who paid.
All honour and praise and glory to the Lord
with different churches in one accord.
The children ran and skipped along,
sometimes in prayer and sometimes in song.
The WALK4BIBLES was fellowship great.
We will always remember this special date.
Thank you Bible League for showing the way,
on this really exciting, special day.
—Reverend Jim Webster
