Hundreds WALK4BIBLES in Sydney
More than 300 Christians pounded the pavement in Sydney to WALK4BIBLES on May 10 and place God’s Word with persecuted Christians.
Bible League’s annual event attracted people of all ages who walked 7 or 14 kilometres at the Sydney Olympic Park.
At only nine years of age, Rachael is a Sydney WALK4BIBLES veteran, having walked for the past four years. She said she enjoyed knowing that through walking 7 kilometres she was able to give Bibles to persecuted Christians.
“I counted the Bibles at home and we had 10,” she said. “There are families that don’t have any. It makes me feel sad. I am glad that I can do something by walking.”
Jenny, who walked with her husband and three kids, said that it was a fantastic day for the whole family.
“It’s really worth while,” she said. “We know how precious the Word of God is and we are just really happy to help get the Word of God out to people that need it.”
Ivan, who walked with his youth group friends, said that WALK4BIBLES is a great initiative to support Christian brothers and sisters around the world who don’t have access to Bibles.
“It’s great that we can raise some money and send Bibles so they can read God’s Word for themselves,” he said. “It’s great for persecuted Christians to always come back to God’s Word and see how much He loves them and they can gain encouragement from this.”
The National Director of Bible League Australia, Grahame Smith, said that WALK4BIBLES provides a fantastic opportunity to bring hope into the lives of suffering Christians.
“These Bibles will make a tremendous difference to their lives,” Mr Smith said. “They will be able to read verses of encouragement, be strengthened in their faith and share God Word’s with others.
“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part. Together we will be transforming thousands of lives with God’s Word.”
