WALK4BIBLES inspires Christians in Perth
It was a sea of blue caps and bright pink badges when Christians walked, along Perth’s Swan River on Saturday, 26 April to provide Bibles for persecuted Christians.
Bible League’s third annual WALK4BIBLES event in the city of Perth created plenty of enthusiasm among people of all ages and fitness levels.
Floryn, who was a pastor in Romania during the communist regime rule, said the walk was fantastic.
“It’s a great feeling,” he said. “It’s amazing to know that we can make a difference for people who cannot afford or cannot have a Bible.”
“Under communism in Romania we had a bit of persecution. We know a bit about persecution, what it is like to get a Bible and to be hungry for the Word of God. It was compelling for us to WALK4BIBLES and send Bibles to persecuted Christians.”
Corralee, who walked seven kilometers, encouraged people to put aside other activities and make an event like this a priority.
“We are so blessed in Australia to have Bibles so readily available and the Bible is so important,” she said.
Jenny, who walked seven kilometers, said the walk was a great opportunity to raise money for Bibles, especially when she has personally seen the need in China.
“I took Bibles into China,” she said. “They are so grateful. So any way that we can raise money so they can supply their churches—when sometimes they only have one Bible for the whole church—is something I really want to be a part of.”
