ZIMBABWE—God’s Word is transforming lives amidst conflict

ZIMBABWE—With inflation escalating past 100,000 percent, there is barely enough food to eat or water to drink. At least 80 per cent of the population lives below the poverty line and most people cannot even afford a loaf of bread.

In the midst of political unrest and widespread poverty in Zimbabwe, Bible League-trained Christians continue to stand firm in their faith and share God’s Word with others.

Bible League’s national director in Zimbabwe said the situation is quite challenging.

“With the incomes of today, it remains a mystery how all our Bible League workers have kept going,” he said. “We have seen victory where reason cannot explain. We are moving on despite a situation where many ministries are folding. We will not claim any glory for all that we are able to achieve. We give glory to God.”

If Bible League workers in Zimbabwe had given up, then people like Samuel might have never met Jesus.

“One day some people were witnessing in our village,” Samuel said. “They introduced us to Jesus. We learned that God is able to give a new heart and a new spirit. I realised that I needed that new heart.

“My spiritual hunger was satisfied by Bible study lessons from Bible League. Through them my life has changed. The studies gave me the courage to witness and be a living testimony to my community. With the Bible from Bible League, I nourish my spirit every day, anytime. I thank God for Bible League.”

Last year, 53,693 people in Zimbabwe completed Project Philip Bible studies, a 29 percent increase from the previous year, and 219 churches were planted.

While people are suffering from endless challenges and hardships, it has driven people to the only source of everlasting peace and salvation—the Lord Jesus Christ.
