Registrations now open for WALK4BIBLES 2008
It’s time to get those walking shoes ready as the WALK4BIBLES 2008 registrations open on the Bible League website.
Christians of all denominations are being encouraged to come together for the free event, which is being held in seven locations across Australia. Each $7 raised through sponsorship places a Bible with a persecuted Christian.
It’s estimated that 250 million Christians are persecuted everyday. That’s 11 times the Australian population of people who are harassed, imprisoned, tortured and even killed just for following Jesus.
Persecuted Christians ask for two things—Bibles and prayer. You can make a difference. Walk 7 or 14 kilometers at your nearest WALK4BIBLES event and pray as you walk.
“Praying for and placing God’s Word with persecuted Christians will have a powerful and life changing impact on their lives,” the National Director of Bible League Australia Grahame Smith said.
“In Hebrews 13:3 we are encouraged to remember fellow believers in prison who are mistreated. We cannot forget that the persecuted are just like you and I—they are followers of Jesus Christ. It’s just that they pay heavily for it.
“I encourage people of all ages to be involved in WALK4BIBLES. And as the WALK4BIBLES slogan says, ‘Every step is significant’.”

Or call Bible League on 1800 800 937 to register for WALK4BIBLES.
- In Indonesia 55 million people are Christians and 40 million do not have Bibles.
- In China more than 70 million Christians are waiting for Bibles and many of them risk persecution for their faith.
- More than 200 million African Christians don’t have God’s Word—most of these people live in persecuted regions and Bibles are usually unavailable or expensive.
