INDONESIA - Muslim Finds Peace in Bible
Sarith was a leader in his local village mosque. Yet, he struggled to be an example of righteousness once he began drinking heavily.
“I brought a lot of shame to my family and my fellow Muslims,” Sarith recalls.
Sarith’s drinking habit eventually led him to have an affair with another woman. His wife left him and his friends disowned him. Even though Sarith was far away from God, he was getting closer to salvation.
Sarith’s cousin was a Bible League International trained pastor and when he heard of Sarith’s troubles he decided to counsel him.
“He came with a Bible and some study books and we discussed spiritual matters,” Sarith says. “He introduced me to the Jesus Christ of the Bible. It was that day that I accepted Jesus as my Saviour."
But the transformation that resulted from his new Christian faith brought a different kind of trouble to Sarith's life.
"Now many of my neighbours shun me because of my faith in Jesus,” Sarith says. “My former friends, the leaders of the mosque, now persecute me. But I am not frightened or discouraged. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Sarith's wife returned to her husband and was amazed at his transformation. She was willing to study the Bible with him and believed that God had performed a miracle.
Thank you for your gifts and prayers.
2 Thessalonians 3:1 (NIV)“Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.”
