Day 19 - Nepal

Bible studies are producing abundant spiritual fruit

Most churches that Bible League partners with in Nepal are located in remote mountainous villages. Facilitating Project Philip can sometimes be challenging because of the high cost and limited supply of fuel, as well as numerous road blocks during political strikes. But where Bible League has the ability to minister, the fruit was abundant! Pastor Arjun testified:

It won't be an exaggeration if we say that Bible League has made a great impact in our church growth. We have been in partnership with Bible League for the last five years. At first 20 people got Project Philip training and many of them are still actively involved. Now around 200 people have come to the Lord and received Bibles. Our six branch churches have also been greatly blessed in their growth.”

The director of Bible League’s ministry in Nepal expressed his excitement for the increasing number of baptisms resulting from Project Philip this year. He noticed that baptisms are increasing and that since a Nepali’s Christian identity is rooted in their baptism, believers are becoming more aware of what it means to be a disciple.

The increase in baptisms resulting from Project Philip can perhaps be attributed to the newfound “religious freedom” of Nepal in which Christians can be bolder about their faith. Previously, people would become members of churches but not be baptised out of fear of persecution.
