Day 18 - Mexico

God’s Word in their language brings peace

Personal story from Modesto, in Mexico.

My name is Modesto and my wife's name is Maria. We were very sad because we have gone through some very hard times. We have a son who lives in the United States of America but his wife and his two little daughters live with us.

Some time ago we found out about the imprisonment of our son in the USA. He ended up in jail because he couldn’t pay for medical services when he fell ill. He left us because he wanted to save money to pay some debts that he couldn’t pay with his salary here in Mexico.

During those trying days, a couple came to our house and gave us a little book. It was a Gospel of John written in Náhuatl, our native language. We understand Náhuatl better than Spanish; in fact we speak just a little bit of Spanish.

Through the study of the Word of God we have understood that we need Jesus as our Saviour, so we all accepted Him as our Lord and Saviour. He has given us inner peace and we trust that He will help us in all our troubles and worries, as well as our son wherever he is.

Each week we go to the house of Brother Adolfo and his wife to study God’s word. With our lives centred on Jesus Christ, it helps us to keep God’s peace. We are very happy and thankful for the Word of God in our hands.

Action Points

Praise God for those who translated His Word into Náhuatl so that Modesto and Maria could come to know Him.

Pray for Modesto and Maria as they follow Christ while living among a people group who do not know the Lord. Pray for the Lord to strengthen their faith through any trials.
