Day 8 - Southeast Asia

Coffin seller becomes Christ follower

Huynh was confronted by death everyday. As a coffin seller, customers would visit his store daily to buy coffins for their deceased loved ones—babies, children, young people and the elderly. Huynh heard many sad stories and he began to realise how temporal life is.

“[It] made me to think about how short life is for humankind,” Huynh said. “I felt worried about my future because I could not find the right answer.”

Huynh asked many people for their opinions of life after death but no-one could truly answer his questions—until he met some Christians, including a Bible League-trained church planter.

“They told me about the Gospel and salvation for the human soul,” he said. “They read two verses from the Holy Bible (Romans 6: 23), ‘For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord.’ and (Acts 4: 12), ‘Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.’

At the same time, the Holy Spirit worked on my life so that I acknowledged my sinful state in the sight of God, therefore I repented of my trespasses and I accepted the Lord Jesus as my own Saviour.

“Ever since, I feel merrier because I am no longer afraid of death since I understand that the Lord has forgiven all my former iniquities and He also grants me everlasting life in His glorious heavenly kingdom.”

Huynh is now attending church and has participated in Project Philip Bible studies.

“I hope that after learning about the fundamentals of Christianity and knowing more about the great love of the Lord and His mercy, then I can tell the truth to all my family members and lead them to accept the Lord Jesus as their own Saviour. I decided to follow the Lord’s way with all my heart and with my entire mind. Hallelujah!”
