INDIA: Sin Sick Soul Healed and Saved

Mrs Gowramma is 36 years old, married and has three children.

"I grew up with my parents and elder sister in a small village called Kyathanahalli. My parents had a small piece of land and it produced very little. So my parents worked in other peoples' land. My sister and I did not have the privilege of going to school. My parents really struggled hard to look after us. Then suddenly my father passed away. After some days my mother also passed away.

My sister and I became orphans. We wept a lot. I was puzzled why our gods punished us so harshly. We had worshipped all gods and followed all the rules whole heartedly. We not only worshipped our family gods but other gods also. But none came to our help.

Later my sister got married and continued to take care of me.

Then I got married and had children, but my problems continued to increase. A sharp and severe pain in my left leg started troubling me, walking was painful. It persisted in spite of taking treatment in the village hospital. My husband and I offered special rituals to different gods. I wondered whether I will ever be free from struggles and problems. I became despaired in life.

About this time I met Mrs Shobha in our village who had started the literacy class in our village. Somehow I felt so free to talk to her and told her about all my struggles and about my leg pain. She told me that Jesus Christ alone can help me.

In the literacy class, I read how Jesus healed a woman who suffered for 12 years with bleeding. I wanted to know more about this God Jesus. So I met with a pastor who explained that Jesus Christ not only heals our physical sickness, he also heals our sin-sick souls. He heals our sinful souls and delivers us from death and hell. He is the Savior and the real God who loves us. I was surprised to know that Jesus died for me on the cross. When I heard those things, I wondered and said to myself, "Is there somebody who cares for me and loves me?"

I prayed to Jesus to heal my leg and also to forgive my sins. Jesus Christ has touched my leg and has healed me. He is helping us in our day to day life. I am so happy that my struggles led me to Jesus Christ. We gave up all the worship of idols. I have given my life to him and I will live for him no matter what I face in my life."
