Mexico: Be filled with the Spirit

Fortino's life was over, or at least that's what he believed to be true. He had let addictions consume him, and now they held an iron grip on every aspect of his life.
Alcohol was his vice and whenever things got tough he turned to the bottle. His family felt the brunt of his drunken rages. "My life had come apart because of my addiction to alcohol. This caused problems in every area of my life—my wife and children suffered the most.

The love of God
"There were times that I spent entire days lying on the street because I was drunk," says Fortino. "One afternoon, a man came to me and asked if we could talk. He asked if I knew that Jesus loved me so much that He had died on the cross. He read to me from the Bible and showed me the love of God in those pages.

"Hearing those words sobered me up quickly," continues Fortino. "I got goose bumps all over my body and I started crying like a child. When he asked if I wanted to invite Jesus into my life, we prayed and I gave my life to Christ."

The man who led Fortino to Christ had received discipleship training from Bible League International. So when he walked Fortino through the prayer of salvation he didn't just stop there.

The best is yet to come
"He invited me to a Bible study," says Fortino. "I haven't missed one of my lessons." The Christian continued to disciple Fortino in his newfound faith in Jesus Christ.
"Today, my life is very different," says Fortino. "My family now attends church together. My attitudes are different and my house is a pleasant place."

Fortino also went through discipleship training through Bible League International and is boldly accepting the call to fulfill the Great Commission.

"Since going through the Bible League International's discipleship training, I am even able to share the love of God with people who don't know Him," he shares. "I love it!"
