During Ramadan, Muslims fast to help them experience hunger, suppress their desires, identify with those who suffer and increase their spiritual piety. Muslims are encouraged to help the needy, so it is also known as the month of charity. It is also the time when Muslims commemorate the night of power on which the Qur’an was revealed to Mohammed. As one of the Five Pillars of Islam, Muslims are obliged to join in this high religious practice of Islamic worship to Allah.
To pass into Paradise when they die, Muslims must fulfil all Five Pillars. They also hope that their good deeds will outweigh their bad ones. Even then, Allah’s judgement is based solely on Allah’s will. The only sure way to paradise is to die as a martyr during an Islamic Holy War or Jihad.
The Qur’an speaks often of Jesus, or ‘Isa’. The Qur’an also refers to Jesus as ‘Kalimat Allah’, which means ‘The Word of God’.
Most Muslims who convert to Christianity do so because they have had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ through a dream or very often through reading the Bible. The need for Bibles is rapidly growing as the Good News of Jesus Christ is spreading throughout the Muslim world. Nothing can stop the power of God to bring people to salvation through His Word.
As Muslims enter the time of Ramadan many will be seeking truth. Will you pray for Bible League’s workers around the world, who will reach out to Muslims using God’s Word? Also, will you pray for persecuted Christians who face increased opposition during this time?

Day 9 Albania 39% Pray for the evangelism ministry of Project Philip amongst Muslim nominal believers. Pray that God’s Word will comfort Christians, who are rejected by family because they believe in Jesus Christ.

Day 10 Libya 97% No open evangelism is allowed in this nation. Pray that this nation will open up for the Gospel. Pray that as people seek truth, Jesus would reveal Himself as Saviour to them today.

Day 15 Senegal 92% Pray for open hearts among the Senegalese, especially the Wolof people who are proudly Muslim. Pray that the New Testament that is now being read will bring a harvest.
