WHAT?

‘Lydia’ is the name for groups of Bible-loving Australia women who gather regularly in their community to pray and raise funds for a particular Bible translation project carried out together by Bible League and Wycliffe Bible Translators.

WHY?

There are many people who long to read the Bible in their own language but it takes much time and cost to translate and publish a Bible.
Bible translators need our prayer and financial support to continue the ministry.

HOW?

JOIN an existing Lydia group or start a new Lydia group in your area.
COMMIT to one of the translation project, set a target and utilise your God-given skills as well as creativity to raise funds for that project over the year.
GATHER with your group members regularly to pray for the ministry and to plan for forthcoming fund raising events.
RECEIVE a Lydia newsletter regularly to find out what other groups are doing and encourage each other in prayers.

RESULTS?

You will be placing Scriptures to those who have not yet heard God’s Word or those who are under persecution. You are “declaring God’s power to the next generation, His might to all who are to come." (Psalms 71:18)

CREATIVE IDEAS AND RESULTS?

Lydia-Toowoomba group had a trip to Warwick, QLD, in which they enjoyed an outing of interest and wonderful fellowship. They raised the funds needed to support the reprinting of the Barai New Testament for Papua New Guinea.

Lydia-St Marys group prepared a table of wonderful hand stitched and embellished cards, along with beautiful hand crocheted packs of coat hangers and face washers for sale. God blessed the evening with $357 for the Barai New Testament!

Lydia-Faulconbridge group had a successful stall on the main street of Springwood in the beautiful Blue Mountains to raise funds. A local cake shop owner (also a supporter of Bible League) makes and donates cakes for their stalls!
