Organise your own walk

Community-based WALK4BIBLES events are fun! It's a great way to have fellowship, as well as to support our Christian brothers and sisters in China. We invite you, your Bible study group, your friends or family, your church or several churches in your community to host your own event in your local community, any time this year.

What is WALK4BIBLES?
It’s a walk-a-thon style event where Christians gather together to walk 7 or 14 kilometres to raise funds to place Bibles with Bible-less Christians in China—where more than 50 million Christians do not have a Bible.

Each $7 raised through sponsorship will provide one Bible with a Bible study, providing much needed discipleship.

People are also encouraged to pray as they walk for Christians in China—many who suffer from persecution.

How easy it it to run you own WALK4BIBLES?

We make it easy for you to organise. Bible League will supply you with a “host’s information kit” including

sponsorship forms
posters
tips on running an event
DVD with stories to help you invite pople to join your walk or sponsor your walkers.

The rest is in your creative hands!

You can organise the event on your own or if you’re planning a larger event perhaps get a team together.

Who can take part?

WALK4BIBLES is for people of all ages with moderate fitness levels.

Get your friends, family, church family, Bible study, youth group or local Christian community involved!

You can make your walk as big or as small as you wish. You could organise a walk with your family or perhaps you would like to organise a walk amongst Christians from churches in the local community.

What did WALK4BIBLES organisers from last year have to say?

Rev. Jim Webster from Queenstown’s West Coast Anglican Church organised WALK4BIBLES in his local community.

“We had 28 walkers and it was a wonderful day of fellowship,” he said. “It was a great ecumenical event. It has been a really good event for group fellowship and it has caused inspiration amongst the churches.”
Pastor Warren (Wazza) Harvey from Gum Tree Christian Fellowship in Esperance organised a combined churches WALK4BIBLES event that featured a “boost bus” for groups to gather and pray.
“We had around 70 walkers. It was great weather and we had a few different churches involved,” Wazza said.

A youth group from Nunawading also organised their own WALK4BIBLES at Cape Schanck, Victoria. The communication leader, Bronwyn Rowe, said that they persevered despite it being the coldest, wettest day in Melbourne for over 31 years.

“Nineteen Nunawading youth and leaders set out for the seven kilometre walk at Cape Schanck, on the Mornington Peninsula, determined to achieve their goal,” she said. “They had made a commitment to the walk and had $700 worth of pledges to collect!”
